“Do not be afraid of sudden terror, Nor of trouble from the wicked when it comes; For the Lord will be your confidence, And will keep your foot from being caught.” Proverbs 3:25-26
If you will notice in the above verse these words -WICKED WHEN IT COMES. It does not say this with an IF in front of it. We all know that the wicked enemy does come and most of the time it comes with sudden terror. The Lord wants to encourage us that we can have absolute confidence in Him when the wicked comes. We serve a God that literally sits in heaven and laughs at the enemy when He sees him plotting against us.
“The kings of the earth set themselves, And the rulers take counsel together, Against the Lord and against His Anointed, saying ‘Let us break their bonds in pieces and cast away their cords from us.’ He who sits in the heavens shall laugh; The Lord shall hold them in derision.” Psalms 2:2-4
We are told that the Lord will come and take us to His hiding place when the enemy comes in like a flood. Praise God that He will hide us in His dwelling place. One time I found myself on a wrong road in the Arab section of Israel of which I had been told to not go. I passed a car similar to the one I was driving that had been burned and less than a mile up the road I saw some Arabs standing in the road with machine guns. Yes, this was sudden terror and the enemy had come. I began to pray in the spirit and the Lord whispered in my ear that they were incapable of seeing me. What a joy it was to be able to pass right by them within inches and knowing that I was hid from their sight.
“You will show me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; At your right hand are pleasures forevermore.” Psalms 16:11
Yes, He showed me the path of life that day and it was not to turn and run the other way but to continue down the road in full confidence that we greatly out numbered the enemy. Right on down the road the Lord directed my steps to take a turn and shortly there after I found myself on a marked highway that I traveled to my destination. I met a government official of Israel that morning and shared with him what had happened to cause me to be a little late for my appointment. He literally turned white and was amazed to know that I had made it safely to his office. He was surprised to see the abundant smile on my face. Praise God for the true joy of the Lord, which is our strength in time of trouble.
How wonderful it is to be able to go forth preaching the kingdom of God like Paul did. Praise God we are all servants of the most High God who refuses to take His eye off of us. Let us all purpose to stay in His mobile tent where His presence keeps us in complete confidence of His protecting hands.
“Then Paul dwelt two whole years in his own rented house, and received all who came to him, preaching the kingdom of God and teaching the things which concern the Lord Jesus Christ with all confidence, no one forbidding him.” Acts 28:30-31 Glory – Glory – Glory
Continue to put your confidence in Him and rest in His loving-kindness for you.
